Kampar Issue, 14 NGO’s Send MoF Legal Claim

Pekanbaru – Around 14 NGO’s concern to environment send their legal claim to MoF regarding to the granting of expansion permit for PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper in the area of Kampar Peninsula peat swamp forest. MoF is asked to revoke the mentioned permit and if it is ignored, 14 NGO’s who join Kampar Peninsula Rescue team will bring this issue to legal action. Those NGO’s such as The Network for Riau Forest Rescue, Jikalahari, Friends of The Earth/Walhi Riau, Greenpeace, Scale Up, LBH Pekanbaru, Kampar Peninsula Rescue Community Forum, and Transparency International Indonesia.

Pekanbaru, 18 May 2010 – Kampar Peninsula Rescue Supporting Team (TP2SK) criticized some statement which stated there is no conflict in Kampar Peninsula issue, and another information about MoF statement allow PT RAPP to continue their operation in Kampar Peninsula.

12 High Government Official were Reported to The Task Force

Jakarta, Kompas – Coalition of Anti Mafia for Forestry, Thursday (22/4), visited Task Force for Combating Mafia of Law. They reported the indication of mafia of law existence in forestry sector in Riau Province. A total of 12 officials reportedly indicated to the legal mafia networks that play a role in the issued warrant termination of the investigation or SP3 on 14 cases of forest crimes in Riau in 2008. Some coalition activist who met task force member; Mas Achmad Santosa and Yunus Husein, at the office of Center for Financial Reporting and Transaction Analysis (PPATK), such are, Coordinator of Law and Justice System Monitoring Division, Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) Febri Diansyah, Coordinator of Riau Forest Rescuer (Jikalahari) Susanto Kurniawan, and Head of Campaign Department Friends of The Earth (Walhi) Teguh Surya.
